I don't own a lot of movies. That may be because I'm cheap, but I'd like
to think it's because I'm selective about what I'll shell out $25 for. So
without further ado, here's...
The Little (but growing) Video Library
DVD
- Fight Club
- Wanna buy a movie? This is the only film I've ever bought, sight-unseen,
based on a number of recommendations. It just doesn't do it for me.
- Being John Malkovich
- Odd doesn't come close to describing this film. "Malkovich!!!"
- Metropolis
- A classic of science fiction, in a completely incompetent package. What a
lousy DVD. Never, never, never buy anything from Madacy Video.
Never.
- The Sixth Sense
- Bruce Willis can act. Who knew?
VHS
- The Indiana Jones Trilogy
- Sadly, I was unable to get a copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark with
the original cover art; this one purports to be Indiana Jones and the
Raiders of the Lost Ark. But at least they haven't been "fixed" like
Star Wars et al.
- The Star Wars Trilogy, THX Widescreen Edition
- The last unbastardized version sold before all of Lucas' nonsense about
making the films more politically correct. Han shoots first, we see Jabba for
the first time in Jedi, and there are no bloody shock waves when
Alderaan and the Death Stars blow up. And they're in widescreen, which is the
only way to see any movie (even if it is crappy VHS resolution).
An open letter to George Lucas...
Leave the damn movies alone.
- Contact (widescreen)
- Billions and billions of stars with no life other than us seems like an
awful waste of space....
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind (widescreen)
- Do I smell mashed potatoes?
- 2001: A Space Odyssey (widescreen)
- Repeat after me: This is not a boring movie. There, now we both
feel better.
When I win on Millionaire...
- The Woody Allen Collection: TODO: add list
Movies that won't see the inside of my VCR...
